Your suggested route

The times below are suggested allowances, not live opening hours or transport schedules. Adjust the order for your arrival time, bookings and conditions.

  1. Day 1 · Morning · Yulong countryside

Begin from a countryside or town base and explore a comfortable section of the Yulong River area by bicycle, on foot or with a driver. Allow two hours with stops. Choose quiet permitted lanes and keep out of working fields rather than treating every rice paddy as a public path.

  2. Day 1 · Afternoon · A defined rafting route

Have lunch, then take an authorised Yulong rafting trip if conditions and participant requirements suit. Confirm its start, finish, duration and return transport before booking. This is different from a Li River cruise, so choose by the experience you want rather than the word ‘river’.

  3. Day 1 · Evening · Town or countryside dinner

Return for dinner near your accommodation. West Street can suit a lively browse, while a countryside meal offers a quieter finish. A performance can replace the evening if you want one, with its own ticket and transfer arranged.

  4. Day 2 · Morning · Xingping

Travel to Xingping for the older town streets and a permitted Li River viewpoint. Allow a half day including transport and lunch. Enjoy the karst setting without assuming a staged fishing photograph represents ordinary daily life.

  5. Day 2 · Afternoon · Return without another climb

Have a final café or riverside pause and return for luggage. If you want a demanding viewpoint hike, add time and verify the route instead of squeezing it before departure. Keep the transfer to the railway station or Guilin separate from sightseeing.

Where to pause for food

Eat one meal near the Yulong countryside and another in town or Xingping. Beer fish is a regional option if it suits your preferences; check portion and pricing. Carry water for cycling and avoid relying solely on snack stalls between villages.

Getting around

Use a driver or suitable local connection for Xingping and choose a bike only where road conditions and confidence suit. Yangshuo railway station is not in central Yangshuo town, so check the actual pickup distance. Agree rafting endpoint transport in advance.

For a shorter day or different weather

In high water or poor weather, replace rafting with a land-based cultural visit. For a slower stay, omit Xingping and remain in the Yulong area. Do not combine two similar boat trips unless that is the main purpose of your visit.

Before you go

Confirm rafting restrictions, weather policy, exact route and fees. Check accommodation location carefully: a scenic countryside stay trades some town convenience for quiet. Avoid unverified cliff climbs and leave time for onward travel.
