Your suggested route

The times below are suggested allowances, not live opening hours or transport schedules. Adjust the order for your arrival time, bookings and conditions.

  1. Morning · Bexhill’s countryside

    Drive from Lismore to Bexhill and start with the village and surrounding rural views. The Journal’s quarry photograph is inspiration for the area, not an instruction to enter the quarry. This route deliberately has a worthwhile morning without relying on quarry access or swimming.

  2. Late morning · Open Air Cathedral

    Visit Bexhill’s Open Air Cathedral at Inspiration Point if public access is available. Allow 30–45 minutes for the valley outlook and a quiet pause. This is a place to appreciate the landscape, so keep noise low and respect any service, event or access notice.

  3. Lunch · Lismore centre

    Return to Lismore for lunch and a walk through the centre. Choose a café, browse independent shops and look for public art. Give the town time rather than using it only as a fuel stop between countryside photographs.

  4. Afternoon · Local art and a slow drive home

    Choose a current gallery exhibition or local heritage stop from the visitor information service. Allow 60–90 minutes, then return with daylight to spare. If a market is operating on your date, substitute it for the gallery rather than assuming it runs every day.

Where to pause for food

Plan breakfast or coffee in Lismore and return there for lunch. Rural stops may have limited opening days, so bring water and a snack. A town-based meal avoids relying on food being available at the countryside viewpoint.

Getting around

Use a car and check Northern Rivers road conditions before departure. Keep the day within the Lismore–Bexhill area rather than adding a long national-park detour. After heavy rain, roads and visitor facilities may need checking independently.

For a shorter day or different weather

In wet weather, make Lismore’s cafés, shops and a confirmed open gallery the whole day. If the countryside stop is closed, do not enter through another gate. The original quarry tag remains visible in the Journal, but its current access has not been confirmed here.

Before you go

Confirm the Open Air Cathedral’s access and any gallery opening times through current local listings. Do not swim, climb fences or approach quarry edges on the strength of an old social-media image. This is a regional day plan, not a verified quarry visit.
